Abstract

The upgrading activity carried out by the Public Administration Students Association (PASA) of the Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sriwijaya University is one of the strategic efforts to improve the capacity and quality of organizational administrators. As a supervising lecturer, the author has an important role in providing direction, coaching, and evaluation of the implementation of this activity. This article aims to review the implementation of upgrading activities, the role of mentoring, and its impact on the development of student competencies. The method of implementing the activity includes discussion sessions, leadership training, and collective evaluation. Mentoring is carried out in a participatory manner, with a focus on empowering students to be able to formulate creative solutions in facing organizational challenges. The main objective of this upgrading is to improve managerial, communication, and collaboration skills between administrators, so that they can carry out organizational tasks effectively. The results of the mentoring show that this upgrading activity has succeeded in strengthening team solidarity, increasing understanding of the role of each member, and improving the working mechanisms of the organization. Thus, this activity is an important foundation in creating a generation of competent and integrated student leaders.
